Hi there! I have been playing with the Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics palette for a few days. As of late I feel that many companies are perfecting formulas in their shadows like Melt Cosmetics has with their Rust Stack and Anastasia Beverly Hills with their Modern Renaissance Palette. I think that altogether – the pigment and blendability of shadows are simply getting better and better.
The Naked Ultimate Basics Palette features twelve all-new matte eyeshadows. Every shade in this palette has been tweaked and perfected and claim to deliver a rich, buttery feel for the perfect application. This palette is housed in a sleek, slim, soft gold case with a full sized, quality mirror and double-ended brush. This palette appears to be permanent and will retail for $54 in store at Sephora, Ulta Beauty, select Macy’s stores or online at sephora.com, ulta.com, macys.com, beauty.com, and urbandecay.com September 20th.
Above are swatches in direct sunlight
- Blow: light nude demi-matte
- Nudie: soft pink-nude matte
- Commando: light taupe-brown matte
- Tempted: pale brown matte
- Instinct: medium pink-taupe matte
- Lethal: reddish brown matte
- Pre-Game: pale yellow matte
- Extra Bitter: burnt orange matte
- Faith: medium warm brown matte
- Lockout: rich neutral brown matte
- Magnet: smoky gray matte
- Blackjack: warm black matte
So far I’m really enjoying many palettes including this one. The warmer tones are to my liking and the cooler nudes are beautiful for a simple and clean daytime look. The darker shadows work well to amplify a look into night as captured in the collage above. I think the shadows work extremely well together and there are endless ways to use it! They blended so very well and I think Urban Decay did a fantastic job with the formula and color selection housed in this palette. My favorite shades are Nude, Commando, Instinct, Lethal, Extra Bitter, Faith, and Lockout.
